Schloss Rotenturm

Historic castle experience in Burgenland, Austria

Schloss Rotenturm is a restored heritage castle known for its distinctive architecture, cultural significance, atmospheric grounds, and surrounding park areas.

To make the site more engaging for families and visitors, we created a self-guided treasure map adventure that transforms the castle into a playful journey of discovery.

Project Overview

For Schloss Rotenturm, we developed a fully interactive treasure map Adventure Quest designed to bring the castle and its territory to life through exploration, storytelling, and play.

The experience includes a series of station-based challenges located both inside the castle and across the outdoor territory, creating a complete journey through the site and its surroundings.

The quest is available in German and is designed for children aged 6–10 as well as for more advanced players, with the support of accompanying adults.

Experience Flow & Concept

The Adventure Quest can be purchased directly at the reception desk at the entrance, with no need for additional staff involvement during gameplay.

The experience is fully self-guided, except for the final step of the quest, when visitors return to reception and use the final code to unlock a treasure box.

Inside, they discover a branded souvenir from the castle — a meaningful keepsake symbolizing the completion of their journey.

Why the Client Asked Us

Schloss Rotenturm had recently undergone restoration and was looking for a way to activate visitor interest and increase engagement with the site.

Because the castle is not open for regular daily tourism and is mainly accessible during special events or upon request, the goal was to create a compelling reason for families and tourists to visit and spend more time on-site.
