Alpenzoo Innsbruck
Interactive Adventure Quest treasure hunt for one of Europe’s highest-altitude zoos.
A playful and educational experience that helps visitors explore, learn, and connect more deeply with alpine wildlife.
About the Project
Alpenzoo Innsbruck is one of the highest-altitude zoos in Europe, located above the city of Innsbruck in Austria. The zoo is dedicated to the conservation, education, and presentation of wildlife from the Alpine region.
Visitors discover a unique collection of alpine animal species through naturalistic enclosures and an immersive educational environment.
What We Created
For Alpenzoo, we developed a fully interactive Adventure Quest treasure hunt across the zoo territory, designed to increase visitor engagement, education, and exploration.
The experience was created in two languages — German and English — and structured into three difficulty levels to serve different visitor groups.
Difficulty Levels
The treasure hunt was designed to be accessible, family-friendly, and scalable for different ages and curiosity levels.
Project Scope
The Alpenzoo project combined gameplay design, education, visitor flow, and souvenir-based interaction into one cohesive experience.
How the Experience Works
Each station in the zoo acts as both a gameplay checkpoint and a learning moment. After completing a challenge, visitors receive a small interesting fact about animals and their life in Alpenzoo.
Players collect correct answers throughout the experience and receive a final code. This code can then be used at the photobooth, where visitors take a picture and receive a printed souvenir photo with Alpenzoo and Adventure Quest branding.
The Treasure Map Alpenzoo is sold directly at the entrance together with admission tickets. One map is designed for a family or group of up to 6 people, making it a shared interactive activity.
Why the Client Asked Us
Alpenzoo wanted to transform a traditional zoo visit into a more interactive and story-driven experience for children, families, and curious guests.
Business Impact
From a business and operational perspective, the system supports both visitor experience goals and institutional objectives.
The Result
The result is a playful and educational journey where visitors do not just observe animals — they actively explore, solve, learn, and leave with a tangible memory of their adventure at Alpenzoo.
An engaging zoo visit becomes a shared family experience, an educational tool, and a memorable branded adventure.
